Timing Chain Guide: Service and Repair
Guide Rail in Crankcase

Removal and Installation (Engine 104.94/99 Only):

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Remove timing case cover.

Engine 104.94/99

2. Mark crankshaft sprocket (11) relative to timing chain (6) with a colored marking (arrows).
3. Remove tensioning rail (2).
4. Lift off timing chain (6) at camshaft sprockets (3) and (5).

NOTE:  Pay attention to colored marking (arrows).

5. Pull off guide rail (18) at bearing pins (17) and (21).

NOTE:

Pay attention to colored marking (arrows) on crankshaft sprocket (11).

Check basic position of camshafts if necessary.

The plastic guide (sliding surface) is clipped into the guide rail (18) and can be replaced separately.

Projection of guide rail:
-

Pin (17) at top with female thread 21 mm.

-

Pin (21) at bottom 34 mm.
