Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

Throttle Linkage

1.

Release the tension on the control cable (30) by adjusting the screw (29) until spring (26) has approx. 3/16 in. (5 mm) play.

2.

Loosen clamping screw (10).

3.

Verify that the throttle valve lever is resting against the idle speed stop on the throttle valve housing. If not, repair or replace the throttle valve as
necessary.

4.

Adjust connecting rod (2) so that the roller in the slotted lever (13) rests free of tension against the idle speed stop. Retighten clamping screw (10).

5.

Disconnect connecting rod (21) on throttle valve lever.

6.

Push cruise control unit lever toward the engine against the idle stop position.

7.

Reconnect the connecting rod (21) and ensure that the lever of the cruise control is lifted by approx. 3/64 in. (1 mm) off the idle speed stop. If
necessary adjust rod (21) to attain the proper setting.

8.

With adjustment screw (43), adjust the control pressure cable (11) until the tips of the arrows (circle) coincide exactly.

9.

With the engine (OFF) depress the accelerator pedal against the stop for the kickdown switch (S 30/2) (kickdown switch not actuated).

The throttle valve lever should be 1/64 - 3/64 in. (0.5 - 1.0 mm) away from the full throttle stop. Adjust screw (29) if required.

10.

With the accelerator pedal in the idle position adjust the spring (26) so that the play is just taken up. If necessary adjust nut (32) to attain the
correct setting.
