Brake Pad Wear Sensor: Description and Operation
On vehicles with ASR, the rear wheel brakes have brake pad lining wear sensors like those on the front brakes.
The brake calipers are malleable cast iron. The wear sensor connectors bolt to cast-on fastener eyes. On the sedan and the coupe, the brake pad size and
type are identical to those on vehicles without ASR. The station wagon has higher capacity rear wheel brakes as well as brake pads with a specially
formulated material. The pad shape differs from the normal version by recesses in the backing plate that serve to attach the wear sensors.
Rear Wheel Brake Wear Sensors
The rear wheel brake wear sensors use the same clip-on sensors as the front wheel brakes.
The wires must be routed as shown in the image.

normal version by recesses in the backing plate that serve to fasten the wear sensors. The brake pad size and type of material are identical with those on
vehicles without ASR.
The rear wheel brake wear sensors use the same clip-on sensors as the front wheel brakes.
The wires must be routed as shown in the picture.
