AR32.20-P-0300A Remove/Install Torsion Bar on Front Axle

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

REMOVAL

1. Remove control rod (54) on intermediate linkage (10a)
2. On models with adaptive damping system (ADS) with level control, remove nut (54a)
3. On all models, unscrew Nut (22f) to remove bracket (22b) on wishbone (31)
4. Remove Nut (21f), then bracket (21b)
5. Remove bolt (21d), then spring leaf swivelling lever (21) and mounting plate (21c)
6. Remove stabilizer bar (10) through the side of the engine compartment cover
7. Pull rubber mounts (22a, 22a) off stabilizer bar
8. On models with ADS with level control, remove intermediate linkage (10a) from stabilizer bar (10)

INSTALLATION

Install in reverse sequence, noting the following:
-

Replace self-locking bolts and nuts

-

Align stabilizer bar (10)

-

Slide bush clod) with hexagon side forwards onto the stabilizer bar

-

Slide intermediate linkage (10a) onto the stabilizer bar (10) so that the two faces align (arrow)

Tighten the following components as noted:
-

Self-locking nut for fastening bracket to wishbone: 20 Nm

-

Self-locking nut for fastening bracket to spring leaf swivelling lever: 20 Nm

-

Self-locking bolt for fastening spring leaf swivelling lever to side member: 60 Nm

-

Self locking bolt for fastening the clamping collar of intermediate linkage to stabilizer bar: 10 Nm

-

Self-locking nut for fastening control rod to intermediate linkage: 10 Nm
