Suspension Control Module: Service and Repair
Rear Axle Level Controller, Replace

126 Series

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle. 

When rear of vehicle is raised, the loss of wheel load will move level controller levers to the ``emptying''

position, resulting in depressurization of the corresponding suspension elements. Because the central reservoir must remain pressurized,
it may be necessary to pressurize it by running engine for 30 seconds at approximately 2500 RPM. If the central reservoir cannot be
pressurized, release pressure from suspension elements by carefully opening the breather or one pressure line connection from each.

Move adjusting switch to ``S'' (detent) position to release pressure from lines between adjusting switch and level controller.

3.

Disconnect level controller connecting rod. Do not remove ball pin from socket.

4.

Disconnect pressure lines, then remove level controller attaching bolts and the controller.

5.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque pressure line fittings to 8 ft. lbs. and level controller attaching bolts to 6 ft. lbs. 

Prior to lowering vehicle,

move adjusting switch to ``N'' position.

1.

Remove bleed screw from level controller and drain system oil into a suitable container.

2.

Disconnect oil lines and lever connecting rod from level controller. 

Do not loosen control shaft fastening lever clamping screw.

3.

Remove level controller attaching bolts and the controller.

4.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque level controller bolts to 33 ft. lbs., M10 connection at level controller to 11 ft. lbs., M14 connection at level
controller to 18 ft. lbs., M10 oil line connection to 11 ft. lbs. and M12 oil line connection to 15 ft. lbs.
