Spring Strut: Testing and Inspection
Test Instructions For Lower Suspension
Test Instructions For Lower Suspension
1st version
Holding clip (5m) should be tightly located in rubber mount (51); rubber mount should not rotate in suspension eye.
2nd version
Ball pin of ball joint should permit moving back and forth without play, but also without binding and without cracking noises, but note that the release
torque is higher than the torque for moving joint.
In the event of a defective ball joint sleeve, renew ball joint and protect threads with Omnifit.
Attention!
Do not clamp spring strut at piston rod.
Tightening Torques
Cap nut for pressure oil line to spring struts: 25 Nm
Hex. bolts for lower suspension: 45 Nm
Ball joint to spring strut: 65 Nm
NOTE:
Spring struts serve simultaneously as deflection stop for rear wheels. For this reason, loosen upper suspension only when vehicle is on its
wheels or when semi-trailing arm is supported.
