Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:

Expansion Valve

1. Empty (recycling) air conditioner.
2. Remove mount for check valves (3).
3. Loosen clamp (2).
4. Unscrew hex nut (1) and pull pipes out of expansion valve.
5. Unscrew both screws (5) and remove expansion valve.
6. Plug exposed pipes and fittings with dummy plugs.
7. Reinstall in reserve order. 
8. Replace O-rings (83 and 84) as well as O-rings on evaporator pipes and moisten with refrigerator oil.
9. Replace receiver dryer.

10. Evacuate and recharge; test for proper function and leakage; allow engine to run at idle speed only for first 4 minutes.

TIGHTENING TORQUES:

Pipes to expansion valve (1):  10 ±3 Nm.
Attachement screws (5):  8 ±2 Nm.
