Cellular Phone Transceiver: Service and Repair

Installing Transmitter - Receiver
1. Remove left rear tail lamp assembly and wheel well liner.
2. Place transmitter - receiver template in wheel well. Locate, punch and drill 3.5 mm hole locations as per template. Remove shavings and apply
zinc dust paint to bare metal edges.
3. Place two foam strips on the bottom and top brackets as per Figure 11. Assemble transmitter - receiver bracket.
4. Secure transmitter - receiver bracket to wheel well so that wing nut is facing the spare wheel.
5. Disconnect the radio antenna lead from antenna splitter. Check for continuity from the antenna mast tube to vehicle chassis with an Ohmmeter. If
the nominal value is [greater than] 0.3 Ohm loosen the lower antenna mounting screw and then tighten the mast tube nut until value is [less than or
equal to] 0.3 Ohm. Tighten lower mounting screw. Reconnect radio antenna lead to splitter.
Note: Failure to perform this step will lead to poor telephone performance and/or interference to other vehicle electronic Systems.
6. Connect one end of telephone antenna lead cable to "Telefon" connection on antenna splitter.
7. Connect 1-pole female connector from telephone harness to 1-pole male connector on antenna (behind 4-pole connector).
8. Measure and mark area to be cut out from wheel well liner as per Figure 13. Remove material using snips.

9. Replace liner into wheel well. Ensure that the antenna lead cable and transmitter - receiver harness are routed behind the liner. Guide connector
ends out from behind panel at point indicated by the arrow (Fig. 13). Secure transmitter - receiver harness and antenna lead cable with cable ties.
