Fuel Filler Cap: Description and Operation
Fuel Cap
PURPOSE
The fuel cap (40) keeps dust, dirt and water from entering into the tank. It also provides for emergency tank ventilation.
OPERATION
If the fuel tank pressure exceeds approx. 100 - 300 mbar (1.45 - 4.35 psi), the vent valve opens and releases the pressure. This prevents damage to
the fuel tank and injection system.
The fuel tank pressure should not exceed 100 - 300 mbar (1.45 - 4.35 psi) unless there is a restriction or blockage in the breather pipe or EVAP
system.
