Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
In order to obtain correct coordination of the fuel injection timing, the fuel injection sequence must be synchronized. The camshaft position sensor
(L5/1) is used for this purpose.
Coolant Temperature (B11/2) And Camshaft Position (L5/1) Sensor Location
LOCATION
The camshaft position sensor is located on top front LH side of engine.
OPERATION
The camshaft position sensor produces two AC voltage signals per camshaft revolution. This signal is processed by the EZL/AKR control module
into a square wave signal and transmitted to the LH control module via controller area network (CAN). Synchronization takes place during start-up
to about 600 RPM.
