Brake Booster - Longer Mounting Studs
REF. No. 62/9
TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS
DATE: January, 1983
SUBJECT:
MODIFIED FIREWALL CHASSIS 126
Since September 1981 production, a firewall with a spacer plate (Figure 2) has been installed in the 126 chassis vehicles. At the same time, these
vehicles are equipped with brake boosters with longer mounting studs (length approximately 21 mm). The bore in the brake pedal arm, which links the
brake booster push rod yoke, was moved forward by approximately 3 mm (see also Service Information No. 43/3, May 1982).
Only the firewall with the additional spacer plate (arrows, Figure 1 and 2) will be supplied as a spare part in the future. The part number has not been
changed.
Repair Hints
If a new firewall is installed (in case of an accident repair), be sure to install the brake booster with longer mounting studs and the forward bore brake
pedal.
The brake booster with shorter mountings studs (length approximately 18.5 mm) and the previous brake pedal can only be installed in vehicles with the
firewall which does not have the spacer plate. The brake booster with longer mounting studs can be installed in all vehicles.
