NOTE:  The second type is distinguished by:

Modified arrangement of lead to control unit under heater housing towards front passenger compartment on right

Changed location of red, 10-pin plug connector from footrest to panel situated below footrest.

Second Type

Removal:

1. Turn ignition key to position "0", disconnect and insulate negative battery terminal.
2. Remove floormat from front passengers footwell.
3. Unscrew footrest and remove.

4. Disconnect red 10-pin control unit plug from electronics board.
5. Remove gear lever trim.
