Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair
Overview
Examining
-
Remove cylinder head (valve) cover, install. See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair

Position cam at relevant bucket tappet to base circle (lobe of cam must face up)

Press bucket tappet with suitable toot (not steel tool).

If one bucket tappet can be pressed more easily in comparison to the others, replace this bucket tappet.
Replacing
-
Remove relevant camshaft, install. See: Camshaft/Service and Repair

Pull up bucket tappet of respective cylinder with rubber suction cup and remove.

Perform visual inspection of lifter bore.
CAUTION:
-
Install the first version of bucket tappet only together with double valve springs.

Do not use magnets as minute iron particles collect at the magnetized contact surfaces of the bucket tappet and cause damage to the buckets and
cams.

The bucket tappets must be re-installed at the same point.

The contact surface must not have any pitting caused by the cam lobe so that the rotational movement of the bucket tappet is not obstructed.
