Accumulator: Testing and Inspection
Accumulator Level Control

    All system pressure reservoirs should be checked if the suspension becomes noticeably harder. Pressure test kit tool No. 126 589 02 21 00 or
equivalent, is required when performing this test.

1.

Disconnect leveling valve connecting rod.

2.

Move leveling valve lever to ``L'' (emptying) position.

3.

Plug fluid drain hose with bleed screw on leveling valve.

4.

Slowly open bleed screw to discharge pressure, then remove bleed screw from leveling valve.

5.

Connect pressure gauge with hose to leveling valve, then plug fluid drain hose with bleed screw.

6.

Disconnect pressure line from both reservoirs, closing both pressure lines with coupling and bleed screw.

7.

Connect pressure gauge hose to right side reservoir, then move leveling valve lever to ``L'' (emptying) position.

8.

Start engine and run at idle, then move leveling valve lever to ``F'' (filling) position and observe pressure gauge. Gauge should indicate 22-24 bar
(319-348 psi) for a new reservoir or a minimum of 15 bar (218 psi) for a used reservoir.

9.

Move front axle leveling valve lever to ``L'' (emptying) position, then stop engine.

10.

Disconnect pressure gauge hose from left side reservoir and connect it to right side reservoir. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to test right side reservoir.

11.

Disconnect pressure gauge, install bleed screw and reconnect lines to reservoirs.

12.

Run engine at high idle and move leveling valve lever to ``F'' (filling) position for 30 seconds.

13.

Attach connecting rod to leveling valve, then check system supply and correct as necessary.
