Campaign - Modified Restrictor For Fuel Filler Neck

RESTRICTION SLEEVE IN FUEL FILLER NECK ALL GASOLINE MODELS, MODEL YEAR 1985 THROUGH 1989

As of June 1989 production a modified restriction sleeve for the fuel filler neck is installed.  It can be identified by two slots (arrows, Figure 2).

During the next scheduled maintenance or repair of earlier production vehicles, the restriction sleeve in the fuel tank filler neck should be checked for
looseness (restriction sleeve and rivets, Figure 1).

If the rivets (1, Figure 1) are loose, then the restriction sleeve must replaced.  Remove rivets with special tool, 123 589 05 33 00.

Insert new restriction sleeve in the filler neck.  Align rivets with flange bores in filler neck. Slots (arrows, Figure 2) in restricticn sleeve assist in
aligment.  Using a mandrel, drive fastening rivets firmly into place up to the stop.
