Arrangement Without Lateral Bearing Caps
4. Drive radial shaft seal (32) in with punch (032) until punch contacts rear axle housing.
Installation note: Coat radial shaft seal with partially rubberized sheet metal jacket on outer circumference with "naphtolene" rubber lubricant or
hypoid gear oil. Coat circumference of sealing lip on radial shaft seal with hypoid gear oil. Installation punch (032) without lateral bearing caps 126 589
00 15 00.
Radial Shaft Seal Pressed In Correctly!
On rear axle center pieces with lateral bearing caps, press radial shaft seal in until installation punch is flush with bottom edge (cutout arrow) of bezel
on bearing cap (the lug for the labyrinth contamination seal is shortened).
Use spacer ring made according to drawing to prevent excessive pressure.
Radial Shaft Seal Pressed Incorrectly! (Without Self-made Spacer Ring)
For standard version use installation punch with 65 mm outer dia. 116 589 05 43 00.
For ASR version use installation punch with 94 mm outer dia. 126 589 04 15 00.
