EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
The temperature of the recirculated exhaust gases is sensed by the EGR temperature sensor. The sensor is located in the exhaust gas recirculation line
and sends a signal to the CIS-E control unit in the form of a resistance value. Under certain operating conditions, if the exhaust gas temperature
decreases to less than approx. 290°F while driving, the CIS-E control unit will recognize this as a fault (no exhaust gas recirculation). The "Check
Engine" light will illuminate and a fault code will be stored in the ECU memory.
