Detaching Camshafts

Use wrench 104 589 01 01 00 to rotate camshafts so that the tips of the cams at cylinders 3 and 9, respectively, (arrows) press onto the bucket
tappets in the middle.

Unbolt camshaft bearing caps (arrows) except at cylinders 3 and 9, takeoff.
Remove camshaft bearing cap (15) together with detached left inlet camshaft (9).

Slacken bolts of camshaft bearing caps (arrows) at cylinders 3 and 9 in steps of one turn.
Camshafts must not be twisted when detaching the camshaft bearing caps (arrows).

Remove camshaft bearing caps (arrows).

Take off inlet and exhaust camshafts.

Inspect ease of movement of bucket tappets.
Attaching Camshafts

Oil all bearing points and bucket tappets.

Insert inlet and exhaust camshafts into the bearing points; the tips of the cams should be pointing down centered at cylinders 3 and S, respectively.
9
Align inlet and exhaust camshafts axially at the axial bearing (arrows).
