Equipped with Engine M271 Water in Spark Plug Recess

In the above model vehicles if while performing work on the above engine water is found in the spark plug recess, perform the following to
resolve.

Note:

This issue is usually only noticed by technicians when operations are performed on the engine. Generally there are no customer complaints
regarding this issue.

Warning!

If the spark plug is removed prior to the removal of water, water can enter the cylinder and potentially cause engine damage the next time the
engine is started.

1.

Before dismantling the spark plug, visually inspect the recess to see if water has been collecting in the area.

2.

Absorb the water with a sponge or a rag. If the water in the recess is small in quantity, carefully blow it out using compressed air.
