Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair

Removing And Installing Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing

Remove viscous fan clutch (1)
-

Engines with viscous fan clutch

NOTE:  Left-handed thread

Drain coolant
-

at radiator

Remove cover (16)

Disconnect coolant hoses (2, 3 and 4)
-

Check condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps and replace if necessary.

Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum pipes on temperature sensor in coolant thermostat housing (30)

Unscrew suspension lug (6)

Unscrew coolant thermostat housing (30)
-

Unscrew bolts (7, 8 and 9).

NOTE:  Installation:
-

Clean sealing surfaces and replace O-ring (31).

-

If the coolant thermostat housing (30) is replaced, observe location of temperature sensor.

Install in reverse order

Check cooling system for leaks.
