Valve: Service and Repair

Remove/Install Valves

Remove cylinder head (87)

Remove camshafts

Place cylinder head (87) onto assembly board (24)

NOTE:  Place correct side of insert (25) into assembly board (24) with the direction of travel arrow (26) facing forward. Attach cylinder head (87)
to assembly board (24) with a cylinder head bolt (23) at the front and rear, with front of cylinder head pointing toward direction of travel arrow
(26).

Bolt on support bridge (2) with slide (7)

NOTE:  Screw support bridge (2) onto camshaft bearings 1+5 and 6+10, for this step use collar bolts for camshaft bearing caps.

5.1 Remove hydraulic valve clearance compensation elements (3) (bucket tappets)

5.2 Remove hydraulic valve clearance compensation elements

Attach lever compression tool (9) with thrust piece (5) into collapsible section (7) and align.
-

Position thrust piece (5) vertically at valve spring retainer (15) and align parallel to slide (7).

-

Fix thrust piece (5) in place with screw (8) to prevent it turning.

Remove upper valve spring plate (15) and valve spring (17)

NOTE:  Press together valve spring (17)

Take out split valve spring retainer locks (14) with tweezers (6).

NOTE:  The valve springs of the inlet valves and exhaust valves are identical.

Replace valve stem seals

Remove lower valve spring plate (20)

Testing
