Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

Test Oil Pressure

Removing, Installing

Remove left charge air pipe of supercharger (5)
-

Engine 111.944/975 fitted with aluminium intake manifold

Remove oil filter element

Screw in oil filter cap with test connection (4)

Connect oil pressure gage (1)
-

Connect pressure line (3) to oil filter cap (4) and close T-valve (2).

Install left charge air pipe of supercharger (5)

Engine 111.944/975 fitted with aluminium intake manifold

Inspecting

Inspect engine oil level
-

Correct if necessary.

Connect remote thermometer (9)
-

Insert temperature sensor through dipstick guide tube (10) into the engine oil.

DANGER:
-

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from contusions and burns if you insert your
hands into the engine when it is started or when it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off.

-

Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.

-

Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

-

Hazard from contact with parts conducting high voltages.

-

Do not touch parts which conduct high voltages. Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) must not carry out
work on the ignition system.

Measure oil pressure

NOTE:
-

Warm up engine to operating temperature (approx. 90 degrees C).

-

When the engine oil is at operating temperature, the oil pressure in the idle speed range must not drop below 0.3 bar. When the throttle is
operated, the oil pressure must rise without any delay and reach at least 3 bar at an engine speed of 3000 rpm.

Install in the reverse order.
