AR27.60-P-0901P Remove/Install Electronic Selector Lever Module (ESM)

Remove, Install

Danger:

-

Risk of fatal accident from vehicle slipping or toppling off the lift platform

-

Align vehicle between the columns of lifting platform and position the four support plates below the support strong points specified by the
vehicle manufacturer.

Risk of explosion from electrolytic gas. Risk of poisoning and irritation if battery acid is swallowed. Risk of injury through burns to skin
and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries

No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into
suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable of battery

NOTE:  Since the CAN is still active for 15 min.

CAUTION: Model 209: Do not connect quiescent current retention unit, otherwise this may cause damage to the control modules.

Unhook shift rod from intermediate lever from below

NOTE:
-

Press off retainer using a suitable tool.

-

Check retainer and bushes for damage and replace if necessary.

Remove selector lever handle with covering

Remove center console

Remove ignition lock control cable (1) from electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5).

NOTE:  Press locking tab (1b) together and push connector (1c) against the spring force into the electronic selector lever module control module
(N15/5), twist through 90 degree (right or left) and pull off ignition lock control cable (1)

Unscrew hexagon socket head screw (4).

Disconnect connector (5).

Remove electronic selector module control module (N15/5).

Install in the reverse order

Adjust shift rod

Read out fault memory
