Component Identification

With the aid of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) the following components can be operated centrally:

On model 203 an electrical connection on the front side of the glove compartment enables audio signals from a Walkman to be transmitted to the radio.

On models 209 the jack socket on the front side of the glove box for connection of an external Walkman is no longer applicable.

The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is the central component in the COMAND system. It contains a video-capable LCD color
display for showing information such as operating menus, map data for the navigation and television screen. It is operated by means of fixed function
keys and 2 rotary controls as well as menu-guided in the display.
Several functions can also be activated with the aid of the push buttons on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL). It should be noted that all pushbutton
operations on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) are processed first by the instrument cluster (A1).
