Parking Brake Pedal: Service and Repair

Remove/Install Parking Brake Pedal Assembly

Remove/Install

Remove cover panel below rear seat cushion

Loosen adjusting nut (8) at slack adjuster

Remove cover below instrument panel

Remove cover (71a) of pedal assembly (71)

Detach brake cable (85) from tensioning shackle on parking brake pedal (75)

Detach pedal assembly (71)

Unplug connector at parking brake indicator switch (S12)

NOTE:  Raise pedal assembly (71) slightly to do this.

Detach release cable (79) at the pedal assembly (71)

NOTE:  On pedal assembly (71) with friction brake, detach release cable (79) at pedal assembly (71) using tool (010).

Remove pedal assembly (71)

CAUTION:  Do not loosen torx bolts on back of pedal assembly (71) otherwise the pedal assembly (71) will be damaged beyond repair.

Install in the reverse order

Inspecting

Check version of pedal assembly (71)

Adjust parking brake.
