Seat Heater Switch: Description and Operation
Switching Off Heated Seat

Switching off

Function prerequisites:

-

Terminal 15R ON or terminal 15 ON

-

No under voltage present

-

Heated seat function switched on

Function

-

The switch off procedure is conducted by pressing either switch position Stage "1" or Stage "2" once.

-

The upper control field control module (N72/1) interrupts the current flow to the heater elements in the seats and also switches off the LEDs.

Automatic switching on with the ignition (terminal 15C) OFF

Function prerequisites:

-

Terminal 15R ON or terminal 15 ON

-

No undervoltage present

-

Heated seat function switched on

The switch off procedure is triggered by turning back the transmitter key (A8/1) to terminal 15C.

-

The upper control field control module (N72/1) interrupts the current flow to the heater elements in the seats and also switches off the LEDS.

NOTE:  The heated seats5 internal time period continues for a time of t = 5 min, in other words, if during this period of five minutes, terminal
15R at least is switched on, then the heated seat function will remain active without having to be switched on again.

Automatic switch off at a battery voltage of <= 11 V

Undervoltage present longer than three seconds

Heated seats switched on

Function

The upper control field control module (N72/1) recognizes an undervoltage and independently triggers a shutdown process of the heated seats in
order to protect battery.

-

The upper control field control module (N72/1) interrupts the current flow to the heater element in the seat.

-

In the event that an undervoltage is detected the active LEDs blink at f = 1.5 Hz.

-

If the undervoltage is present for longer than 30 seconds an error is stored in the fault memory.

NOTE:  The voltage-level detection is based on the battery voltage sent out by the EIS control module (N73).
