Store airbag unit with expulsion area on top, do not subject to temperatures above 100 degrees C When working on these units, disconnect the
power supply.

Remove airbag unit on steering wheel

CAUTION:  Instructions for performing repair, body work and welding on vehicles with airbags and ETR units

Unplug steering wheel heater connector (1)

Unscrew countersunk bolt (32c) while steadying steering wheel (32)

CAUTION:  Installation: Install new countersunk bolt otherwise the old bolt may work itself loose

Remove steering wheel while guiding wires from airbag through the opening

NOTE:  Installation: Assign the recess clearances of the serrations in the steering wheel (arrows) to the markings on the steering shaft

Check the clock spring contact (A45) for damage

Install in the reverse order

Activate steering angle sensor

Conduct a road test

Check during test drive

Flasher canceling

If displaced by more than 1 tooth, satisfactory resetting of the turn signal is no longer guaranteed

Airbag indicator lamp

-

The SRS indicator lamp must not light up with full steering angle in both directions

Steering wheel position

-

If the steering wheel is crooked, adjust it by max 1 tooth If the difference is greater, Check and adjust toe on front axle.
