Torque Strut Replacement Parts / Dull Clunking Noise when Braking Suddenly on Rough Roads

If you receive customer reports of a single dull clunking noise when braking suddenly on rough roads, the cause may be the travel limiter inside the
hydro-mount of the torque strut. This applies only to the following models:

Model 211.026/065/070/076/265 - Up to VIN A393300 or X112600

^

Model 219.375

^

Model 230.475 - up to F063200

To resolve, replace the hydro-mounts with conventional rubber mounts (which are a bit more firm and do not have a travel limiter). When performing
this repair, the torque strut bushings must be replaced in pairs since it is not permissible to have a hydro-mount and a rubber mount installed on the same
vehicle.

Note:

The torque strut for the above model vehicles (in subject field) is no longer available as a complete part and can only be procured from Replacement
Parts without rubber bushings. In cases where the entire torque strut needs to be replaced (accident repair, ball joint damage, etc.), a rubber bushing
must be ordered in addition to the torque strut and pressed in. If only the rubber bushing is malfunctioning, replace this part only.

Special Tool 220 589 06 43 00 is required for correct positioning when pressing in the rubber bushing.
