Repairing Floating Caliper On Front Axle

Removing, installing

Removing and installing front brake caliper

Remove floating caliper (34) from caliper support (33)

Disassemble/assemble

Carefully press out piston (47) using compressed air; remove piston with piston-rotating pliers if necessary

NOTE:
-

Model 202.033/093, model 208.374 and model 210.072 with CODE 957 E 50 AMG 210.074/274 are fitted with a 2-piston floating caliper.

If piston is rusted tight (47), replace floating caliper (34).

Installation: Coat cylinder bore with brake fluid.

Remove dust cap (45) from floating caliper (34)

NOTE:  Installation:  Put dust cap (45) over piston (47) and insert into cylinder bore together with piston. Push in piston using both hands.
Ensure correct seating.

CAUTION:  Floating caliper and repair kit must be from same manufacturer.

Remove piston seal (50) from the groove in the cylinder bore.

NOTE:  Installation:  Coat new piston seal (50) with brake fluid.

CAUTION:  Floating caliper (34) and repair kit must be from same manufacturer.

Check piston (47) and cylinder bore of floating caliper (34), and replace if necessary

CAUTION:  Notes on damage to piston or cylinder bore on fixed or floating caliper.

Test values for front axle floating caliper

Remove and replace plastic guide bushings (34f)

Assemble in reverse order
