Check Engine Indicator Lamp, Component Description

Component Identification

Location

The CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp is located in the instrument cluster.

Task

To indicate faults in the fuel injection system.

Function

The indicator lamp is actuated by the instrument cluster via a CAN message from the engine control unit. To check it is functioning properly, the
indicator lamp lights up for approx. 1 second at ignition "ON" and from an engine speed of approx. 500 rpm. The indicator lamp goes out if there are no
faults present.
