General information on voice control
The individual functions of the driver information system are called up and operated via the voice control system (VCS [SBS]). The VCS [SBS] is
integrated into the radio with auto pilot system (A2/56). The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.
Operating instructions
The voice control can be activated or deactivated using the following buttons on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL):

Voice control system ON button (S111s4)
^
"Back" and voice control system OFF button (S110s4)
Voice control function sequence
The control signal from the VCS [SBS] on button is forwarded to the radio with auto pilot system in the following way:
^
Steering LIN
^
Steering column module control unit (N80)
^
Chassis CAN
^
Instrument cluster (A1)
^
Interior CAN
The voice input takes place via the corresponding voice control system microphone, which is connected to the radio with auto pilot system via a discrete
line. The spoken word is converted into an electrical signal via the voice control system microphone and forwarded to the radio with auto pilot system.
Voice output is emitted at the following speakers:
^
Left front door speaker (H4/1)
^
Right front door speaker (H4/2)
^
Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
These are discretely connected to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system).
In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place over discrete lines by the radio with auto pilot system itself over the following
speakers:

Left front door speaker
^
Right front door speaker
^
Center instrument panel speaker
