Body - Tailgate Cannot Be Opened After Exposed to Sun

Tailgate Cannot be Opened

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the tailgate not opening after the vehicle remains exposed to strong sunlight, the tailgate
handle may need to be replaced. The heat of the sunlight (solar radiation), may expand the micro-switch support, as a result the micro-switch may have
excessive play and thus cause the handle to no longer operate the micro-switch.

To resolve, replace the tailgate handle as per WIS document AR72.20-P-3650PA, with the revised part number A203 740 11 93 with a status Q4.

Note:

Do not replace the trunk lid lock in an attempt to remedy this condition.
