Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper

- except CODE (949) EVOLUTION sport package
- except CODE (950) EVOLUTION AMG sport package

Remove/Install

DANGER:

-

Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.

-

Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by
the vehicle manufacturer.

-

Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

-

Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling
brake fluid.

Remove front wheels

First disconnect brake hose (51) at brake line (5) and then at floating caliper (31a)

NOTE:
-

Seal off line connections immediately with plugs. The brake fluid reservoir must not be allowed to empty completely.

Unclip brake hose from bracket.

CAUTION:  See notes on installing brake hoses

Unplug left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) from plug connection (S10/1x1).

CAUTION:  See notes on installing contact sensor for brake lining wear indicator

Unscrew brake pad contact sensor plug (31e) from floating brake caliper

CAUTION:  Installation:  Install new self-locking bolts

Unscrew floating caliper (31a) from steering knuckle
