DANGER:

Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.

-

Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by
the vehicle manufacturer.

Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around
the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns.

-

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

-

Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through
burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries.

No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only
into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable of battery

CAUTION:  Model 209:  Do not disconnect quiescent current retention unit, otherwise the control modules could be damaged.

Remove bottom part of oil pan

Open lock of steering column and pull out steering column fully, close lock

Unscrew bolt (1) of drag link (2)

CAUTION:  Installation:  Replace bolt (1) and locking plate (3, otherwise the connection can slacken when reusing. Push on locking plate
(3) so far, until the lug latches in the steering coupling.

Move steering into center position

NOTE:  The notch (arrow) of the plastic plate must be matched with the edge (arrow).

Lock steering wheel

CAUTION:  The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling is detached otherwise the contact spiral will be destroyed.

Remove bracket (6) of pressure line power steering pump (7) at front axle carrier (5)

Support front axle carrier (5) with pit or assembly lift

Unscrew bolts (8) of front axle carrier (5)

NOTE:
-

The bolts are self-tapping, so the following points must be observed:
-

Never recut the thread in the longitudinal member

-

Replace bolts

-

Only use original bolts (4 ea.)
