Bolts must be screwed in perfectly straight

Do not use an impact wrench

Observe tightening torque.

Lower front axle carrier (5)

NOTE:  Installation:  When raising front axle carrier (5), ensure that the bottom steering column is pushed over the top steering column as far as
the stop. The holes of the top steering column and of the bottom steering column must be aligned.

Remove bracket (9) of right automatic oil line (10), left automatic oil line (10a) at oil pan top section (24)

On vehicles with transmission 722.6

Remove attachments of automatic oil lines (11)
-

On vehicles with transmission 722.6

Remove left automatic oil line (10a) at transmission
-

On vehicles with transmission 722.6

NOTE:  Installation:  Replace sealing rings of banjo bolt (12).

Unplug right 0022 sensor connector, upstream TWC (G3/4x1)

Unplug right 0022 sensor connector, downstream TWC (G3/6x1)

Remove bracket (13) of connectors of oxygen sensors at oil pan top section (24) and place to the side

Remove three way catalytic converters or complete front exhaust system

Engine 112.912/946/961, engine 113.968

NOTE:  Installation:  The right three way catalytic converter (15) cannot slacken from the main pipe due to inadequate margin.

Unscrew bolts (14) of right three way catalytic converter (15) at exhaust manifold.

NOTE:  Installation:  Install new bolts (14). Inspect rivet nuts in exhaust manifold, replace if necessary. Replace rivet nuts in exhaust manifold.

Remove exhaust bracket (16) at right three way catalytic converter (15)

NOTE:  Installation:  Replace threaded rail (17) and nuts (18).

Separate right catalytic converter (15) from rear exhaust system

NOTE:  Installation:  Replace bolts (19) and nuts (20).

Remove right catalytic converter (15)

NOTE:  Installation:  Check seal ring (21) for damage, replace if necessary. Use emery cloth to remove combustion and corrosion residues at
connection points.

Place right automatic oil line (10), left automatic oil line (10a) to the side.

On vehicles with transmission 722.6

Press positive cable (22) out of the fixtures

Remove cable strap at dipstick guide tube (23)

Unscrew oil pan top section (24)

NOTE:  Installation:  Observe different bolt length and bolt diameter.

Remove oil pan top section (24)

NOTE:
-

Take out oil pan top section (24) with oil dipstick guide tube (23) toward rear.

Installation:  Replace Gasket of oil dipstick guide tube (23).0bserve application of sealing compound to oil pan top section (24).

Install in the reverse order

Render electrical system operational.

Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level
