Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Procedures

Replace rear crankshaft radial sealing ring

DANGER:

-

Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.

-

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points
specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

1.1 Remove automatic transmission.
1.2 Remove manual transmission.

Unscrew bolts (5) of flywheel (3).

CAUTION:  Installation:  Replace bolts of flywheel (5), because the connection may become loose if reused or the bolts of the flywheel (3)
may break off.

Remove washer (4).

Remove flywheel (3).

Remove end cover (1).

Remove crankshaft radial seal (2).

NOTE:
-

The crankshaft radial sealing ring (2) at the end cover (1), which is fitted at the factory, cannot be exchanged and therefore the end cover must
be replaced.

Crankshaft radial sealing ring (2) must not be pushed out when the end cover (1) is fitted.

-

Installation:  First of all install the end cover (1), then install the crankshaft radial sealing ring (2): Install the crankshaft radial sealing ring
(2).

Install in the reverse order.

NOTE:  Before installing transmission, inspect for oil leaks!.
