Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

AR83.30-P-5431P Remove/Install Refrigerant Pressure and Temperature Sensor

- with CODE (580a) Automatic air conditioning
- with CODE (581b) Convenience automatic air conditioning

DANGER:

-

Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated
refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.

Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear
eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit
only after the system has been discharged.

CAUTION:  Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.

Remove drier cartridge

CAUTION:  Installation:  after the refrigerant circuit is opened replace drier cartridge.

Observe additional oil quantity after replacing parts
Correct oil level in air conditioning system after replacing parts.

2.1 Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Engines 111, 112

NOTE:  Front paneling.

2.2 Remove bottom section of sound-proofing capsule

-

Engines 611, 612

NOTE:  Front lower section.

Disconnect connector (1) from refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2)

Unscrew refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2)

CAUTION:
-

Plug condenser opening.

-

Installation: replace O-ring.

-

Moisten threads and O-ring with compressor oil.

-

Refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor on condenser:  6 N.m

-

See "Special Tools" given below.

Install in the reverse order.

Check air conditioning system for proper function.
