Fuel Filler Cap

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of difficulty when opening and closing the fuel filler cap, please perform the below remedy.
This difficulty may be caused by high friction between rubber seal of fuel filler cap and filler neck surface.

Note:

During PDI, if the fuel filler cap is difficult to open and close due to high friction between rubber seal of fuel filler cap and filler neck surface, please
proceed with remedy as described below.

Remedy:

1.

Remove filler cap.

2.

Check cap seal and white slide ring for condition and dirt.

3.

Apply a thin film of silicone paste over the rubber sealing surface.

4.

Close and open filler cap several times to spread paste evenly over complete sealing surface.

Caution!

Wear protective gloves when performing this work.

Avoid contact between silicone paste and vehicle. Be careful not to induce silicone paste into fuel tank.
