Air Conditioning Control Units Inoperative

If during air conditioning complaint diagnosis it is determined that the air conditioning control unit may be the cause for the complaint, perform the
following additional test measures prior to component replacement. A large number of air conditioning control units have recently been returned and
once tested were found to be functioning properly. Be sure to perform the following tests to avoid claim  debiting.

Normalize Actuator Motors via the Control Unit

1.

Press the recirculated air and defrost buttons on the control panel simultaneously and hold for approximately 7 seconds.

2.

The LED's for the recirculated air and defrost buttons will flash alternately.

3.

Wait until the LED's stop flashing (approx. 30 seconds), system will set itself to defrost and the LED will be illuminated.

4.

Exit the defrost mode and check all actuator motor functions.

Check Evaporator Sensor

Condensed water leaks into the evaporator sensor (B10/6) which may cause the sensor to report a temperature higher than actual. SDS may not
show an electrical failure of the sensor; however, the sensor is damaged and causes the refrigerant compressor to run for approximately 10 minutes
then switch off (once per ignition cycle). To resolve, replace the evaporator sensor. Refer to EPC for applicable part number.

Note:

Operating temperature at the evaporator is between 36°F - 54°F (2°C - 12°C).

Check Pressure Sensor

1.

Connect pressure gauge and SDS

2.

If pressure difference between the value displayed in SDS and the actual pressure on the gauge is >2 bar, replace the pressure sensor (B12) at the
receiver/drier. Refer to EPC for applicable part  number.
