Function requirements

Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"

Mobile phone and COMAND controller unit (A40/3) switched on

^

Mobile phone system operating error-free

^

One mobile phone network is available in sufficient strength and quality

^

Japan electrical connector adapter cable (X39/46) connected to communications control unit (N123/6)

^

Compatible mobile phone connected to the Japan electrical connector adapter cable or Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone in the vehicle and
authorized on the COMAND controller unit

The following provider settings have been completed:

Connection name, dial-in number, telephone name

DNS server 1 and 2, proxy server, port number, APN

Time limit, data communication, mail account

-

Mail password, mail address, user, homepage

Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) server (for receiving emails)

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server (for transmitting emails)

No more than 3 providers can be set.

The Japan electrical connector adapter cable is used to connect the various mobile phones to the communications control unit.

A Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone can only be operated in the vehicle if a mobile phone is not connected to the Japan electrical connector adapter
cable. Additionally, the Bluetooth-capable mobile phone must be authorized at the COMAND controller unit and support Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0
or 1.5.

With a mobile phone operated with Bluetooth, read access to the telephone book in the mobile phone is possible when the mobile phone supports the
Bluetooth Profile Phonebook Access Profile (PBAP).

The system is described using a mobile phone connected to the Japan electrical connector adapter cable as an example. Deviations from this are
indicated with the symbol.

The email application enables the user to manage his/her emails (e.g. to read or compose).

Operating instructions

Emails can only be composed, read and sent over the Audio/ COMAND control panel (A40/9) and the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).

The emails can now be shown by calling up the Email menu item in the basic telephone (ComTel) function using the TEL hardkey on the COMAND
controller unit or the ComTel menu item in the application bar on the Audio/COMAND display via the Audio/ COMAND control panel and then on the
Audio/COMAND display. The control signals from the COMAND controller unit TEL hardkey are processed internally. The control signals from the
