Transmitter Key

Transmitter Key Button Assignment

The transmitter key consists of an electronic component and a mechanical key. The electronic component contains an FM radio transmitter, an infrared
transmitter and receiver unit, a computer chip, the control buttons and a battery.

Drive authorization

When the transmitter key is inserted into the keyhole in the EIS[EZS] control module (N73), the key is supplied with voltage via an induction coil. Data
is exchanged via the infrared transmission and receiving unit for the purpose of verifying drive authorization.

Locking/unlocking vehicle, remote trunk unlock only in model 203.0 (sedan)

Pressing the right button causes the transmitter key to send a radio signal and an infrared signal. After the validity of this signal has been verifying, the
vehicle is lock/unlocked or the trunk lid is opened (sedans only).

Global/selective modes

The "global" and "selective" vehicle unlocking modes can be changed by simultaneously holding down the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons for more than 
five seconds. The battery check lamp blinks twice to confirm the change.

Convenience features

The convenience feature signals are transmitted only as infrared signals. not as radio signals.

Mechanical key

Pressing the release button allows the mechanical key to be completely removed from the transmitter key. unlocking or locking the vehicle with the
mechanical key does not actuate the central locking system or the anti-theft alarm system (ATA[EDW]), code 551.

Battery check

When a button is pressed, the battery check lamp lights to confirm that the transmitter key battery is in proper working condition.
