NOTE:  If the vehicle is equipped with a sound system (code 810) (see block diagram) the voice signals are transferred to the D2B by the COMAND
audio signal processing, and are received and amplified by the sound amplifier (A2/13) and output on the vehicle loudspeakers.

NOTE:  Several driving recommendations in short sequence are consolidated into one single voice output.

Manual voice data loading from CD-ROM 
COMAND is equipped with various languages. They can be selected with the "System settings" menu. The data for voice output is transferred from the
CD-ROM to the navigation processor ( A40/3n2) where it is stored in a non-volatile memory. Loading a language takes only a few seconds and changes
the language output as well as the menu texts on the display. When the power supply is interrupted the voice data is reloaded automatically.

NOTE:  During voice data loading from the CD-ROM avoid heavy vibrations (e.g. poor roads). Otherwise voice output may be fragmental. In this case
reload the voice data.

Volume of voice output

The volume of the voice output can be changed during voice output. In this case a difference of 12.5 dB is automatically maintained between the volume
of the current audio source and the volume of the voice output

Example:

The volume is reduced during voice output. In this case the difference between the voice output and the audio signal would be less than 12.5 dB. 
COMAND then decreases automatically the audio signal level until the 12.5 dB difference is reached again. Following voice output the volume of the
audio signal is increased to the value of the voice output.

Moreover, the volume of the voice output cannot be set to below a certain minimum level.

Voice output superimposed with another audio source 

When voice output and another audio source (CD, CC, radio) are active simultaneously, the one signal is superimposed on the other.

Voice output mute circuit

The navigation voice output can be switched to mute with the mute button (button with loudspeaker crossed out symbol) during voice output. The mute
feature applies only for the current voice output. When the mute button is pressed the first time it suppresses signals from the traffic station; pressing a
second time suppresses the navigation voice output in the event that navigation voice output and an FM traffic station message are active simultaneously
(except (USA)).
