CAUTION:
Carry out resetting of ASSYST (Oil change reset) only after an oil change!
If possible, the oil change reset should be carried out with the Star diagnostic tool!

Bring starter switch in position "1".

-

Operate the system selection button (S110s3) until the complete overview (total mileage and trip odometer) is displayed in the multi-function
display (A1p13). (Only required, if the complete overview, is not yet displayed.)

-

Operate the forward and backward scrolling button until the service symbol and the actual remaining mileage, the remaining time or the service
exceeded indication appears.

-

Operate the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1) for approx. 5 Seconds. until the message "DO YOU WANT TO RESET THE SERVICE
INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING THE R BUTTON" appears in the multifunctional display (A1p13).

-

Press again the reset button in the instrument cluster (A1) within 5 sec.

-

The actual "Remaining mileage" of 15,000 Km or 10,000 miles will appear in the multi-function display (A1p13).

NOTE:  An inadvertently triggered oil change reset can only be reversed with the Star diagnosis tool.

Remaining Distance Function

The remaining distance displayed is always 15 000 km or 10 000 miles in the case of gasoline engines and 20 000 km in the case of diesel engines after
the oil change reset.

The remaining distance which is calculated during the service interval depends to a considerable extent on the start distance.

Start distance

Start distance refers to the distance in kilometers or miles which may be driven as a minimum distance until the next service. This applies only. however,
if the specified quantity of engine oil has been added during the oil change.

The start distance is dependent on:

-

the set quality factors
(The quality factors are factory-set to a basic setting. They can be altered with the Star Diagnosis tool, if operating conditions so necessitate.)

The start distance is not dependent on the driving conditions (weighting of the distance driven) and on any oil replenishments.

The standard value is normally 15 000 km or 10 000 miles in the case of gasoline engines and 20 000 km in the case of diesel engines. The value may
differ from this, however, depending on the quality factors.

The start distance is automatically reset to its initial value by the oil change reset each time the oil is changed. The start distance is an internal computed
quantity and cannot be displayed in the instrument cluster (A1). It is only possible to display the start distance with the Star Diagnosis tool. What is
normally displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) is the remaining distance.

Remaining distance

The remaining distance is the same as the start distance immediately after the oil change. This applies only, however, if the specified quantity of the
engine oil has been added during the oil change.

The remaining distance is the distance which remains from the current kilometer reading until the next service. The possible length of the interval is at
least as great as the remaining distance displayed immediately after an oil change but is at the most twice the start distance.

The remaining distance is dependent on:

-

the start distance

-

the driving conditions (A weighting of the distance driven takes place.)

-

any oil replenishments

Consequently, ASSYST also takes into account the driving conditions:

In the case of a favorable weighting e.g. caused by:

-

a small number of cold starts,

-

no high engine revs,

-

small number of short-distance trips,

-

minimum extent of towing a trailer

and oil replenishments, the driver is provided with a bonus which extends the remaining distance and thus the service interval.
