The remaining time is significant only for vehicles with low annual mileage (for this reason the remaining mileage is displayed as a rule).

The remaining time depends on:

The initial time

-

The operating conditions

NOTE:  However, adding oil has no effect on the remaining time.

These interrelationships mean that ASSYST is also based on the requirements for vehicles with low annual mileage. For such vehicles the service
interval is between 1 and 2 years depending on the conditions.

Warning threshold (in days)

A warning threshold between 5 and 30 days can be set for the remaining time with the STAR diagnosis tool in steps of one day. The basic setting is 30
days.

Display of remaining time

The remaining time is displayed only under the following conditions:

Remaining time (in days) x 40 < remaining mileage (remaining mileage in kilometers) or
Remaining time (in days) x 20 < remaining mileage (remaining mileage in miles)

and when the warning threshold has been reached. 

The remaining time is displayed:

-

Automatically after reaching the warning interval, 5 s after turning the ignition switch to position "2" or starting the engine
The service symbol and display appear for s: 
"SERVICE IN xxx DAYS"

Automatically 5 s after turning the ignition switch to position 2 or driving the vehicle when the remaining time has expired:
The service symbol and message appear for 30 s:
"PERFORM SERVICE".

Automatically upon expiration of the remaining time, 5 s after turning the ignition switch to position "2" or starting the engine:
The service symbol and message appear for 30 s: 
"SERVICE EXCEEDED BY xxx DAYS"
In addition a warning tone sounds.

On driver request. The message is then displayed as above for 30 s.

The display has a resolution of 1 day. It can be canceled by pressing the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1).

If readings are missing for the ASSYST, e.g. due to failure of a sensor, substitute values stored in the control modules are used. A corresponding entry is
made in the DTC memory of the corresponding control module.

However, the time during which the operating power was absent (e.g. battery disconnected) are not calculated!

However, they can be taken into consideration retroactively with the STAR diagnosis tool.
