Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

The refrigerant temperature sensor serves for measuring the refrigerant temperature.

The refrigerant temperature sensor measures the temperature of the refrigerant and transfers the value measured to the automatic A/C pushbutton control
module via the left signal-acquisition and actuation module and the CAN bus. This value is compared with a stored temperature/pressure curve allowing
the refrigerant level to be determined. If the refrigerant level is too low the A/C compressor is switched off by the pushbutton control module via the
CAN bus and left signal-acquisition and actuation module.
The EC mode is activated and can no longer be switched off. The system is capable of operating again only after elimination of the malfunction and
erasing the DTC memory in the automatic A/C pushbutton control module. The refrigerant temperature sensor operates within the range of -40 °C to 100
°C.
