Engine oil

Mercedes-Benz vehicle requires specific fluids to avoid engine failure and to maintain its optimum performance.

Approved Engine Oils
Engine oil must satisfy many different industry standards and manufacturer requirements. The most common oil ratings are:
API - American Petroleum Institute
ILSAC - International Lubrication Standardization and Approval Committee
ACEA - Association des Constructeurs Européens d'Automobiles

Mercedes-Benz has very specific engine lubrication requirements and only oils that have a MB approval number and the approved viscosity ranges are to
be used when servicing your engine. The MB approval number will be marked on the oil container

Use the table below to determine the MB approval number. Refer to the Operator's Manual for the engine type of your model. The model and engine
type can be found in the "Technical Data" chapter of your Operator's Manual under "Engine."

Select oil viscosity grades according to the lowest and highest air temperature expected before next oil change

From 86F/30C to below +13F/-25C 0w-30, 5w-30
Above 86F/30C to below +13F/-25C 0W-40, 5W-40, 5W-50
