Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
AR43.10-P-0350I Remove/Install Brake Booster

Removal 

1. Remove master brake cylinder (1). 

-

Check master brake cylinder at rear of thrust rod piston for leaks.

2. Unplug connector from BAS diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7b1).
3. Disconnect vacuum line (8) from brake booster (16).
4. Remove covers below foot controls.
5. Pull off locking element (25) at brake booster to brake pedal and take out pin (26).
6. Unscrew nuts (23) attaching the brake booster.
7. Remove brake booster (16).

Do not damage front control housing and rubber boot when removing and installing the brake booster.

Installation 

8. Install in the reverse order.

Tighten nut of brake booster carrier to front end to: 24 Nm 

9. Set stop lamp (S9) switch as follows:

-

Pull out operating pin fully.

-

Depress brake pedal.

-

The pedal travel is set automatically.
