WARNING:

Risk of poisoning due to consuming brake fluid.

Risk of injury due to brake fluid coming into contact with the skin or eyes

Only pour brake fluid into suitable, appropriately marked containers.

^

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses when handling brake fluid. 

NOTE:

Refer to notes on repairs to brake system. 

Removal

1. Unscrew brake pipe (5) from brake hose

NOTE:
^

When loosening or tightening the brake pipe (5) on brake hose (51), ensure that the holder (arrows) is not twisted.

^

If necessary steady break hose hexagon with an open-end wrench.

^

Seal connections immediately with plugs,

^

The brake fluid reservoir must not run completely empty.

2. Unscrew brake hose (51) from fixed caliper.

Front axle only, pull out brake hose through rubber grommet on holder.

3. Install in reverse order, noting the following:

Tighten brake pipe (5) to brake hose (51) to: 14 Nm

-

Tighten brake hose to fixed caliper to: 18 Nm

4. Bleed brake system. See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair

NOTE:

Only use brake hoses approved by Mercedes-Benz.

^

When connecting brake hoses (51) ensure that the brake hose is not twisted.

^

A minimum clearance of 15 mm to other axle parts must be ensured under all driving situations.

^

A retaining plate with a hexagon or polygon profile (60) is attached to the bracket (52). Install brake hose (51) in the retaining plate (60) so that it
also does not chafe during jounce and rebound movement on full left and right lock.
