Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

AR83.30-P-5520M Remove/Install Expansion Valve

DANGER:

-

Explosion hazard when performing welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning. Poisoning hazard from inhaling overheated 
refrigerant vapors. Injury hazard from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.

Do not perform any type of welding work on closed air conditioning system or in its vicinity. Smoking and open flame prohibited. Wear
protective goggles and protective gloves, work only in well-ventilated rooms. Perform repair work on air conditioning circuit only with
system emptied.

CAUTION:  Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture during repair work.

Empty air conditioning (recycle), evacuate, charge, check for leaks

CAUTION:  Add quantity of compressor oil removed to refrigerant circuit when charging air conditioning (new oil).

Remove wiper system

Unscrew nut (1)

Nut on expansion valve:  10 N.m

Pull off pressure lines

CAUTION:  Plug openings (parts kit), Replace O-rings (4) (moisten with compressor oil).

Unscrew screws (3)
-

Bolt on expansion valve:  10 N.m

Pull expansion valve (5) off of pressure lines (7)

CAUTION:  Plug openings (parts kit), Replace O-rings (4) (moisten with compressor oil).

NOTE:  Installation:  In order to avoid canting, tighten screws alternately.

Replace receiver/drier

Install in opposite order.
