Control Arm Bushing: Service and Repair
Remove/Install Spring Link and Install New Rubber Mount
- with CODE (487) Active body control (ABC)
Remove/Install
DANGER:
-
Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
-
Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points
specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
CAUTION:
-
When working on the rear axle, ensure that the surfaces of all aluminum parts are kept free of scratches, cracks and indentations.
Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected

Raise vehicle.

Remove exhaust system at flange.

Remove cover from spring link (6g).
NOTE: Remove by extracting the pin from the expansion rivet, then remove the rivet from the spring link (6) and spring link cover (6g).

Remove level sensor control rod (122a) from spring link

Remove spring link (6) from wheel carrier
CAUTION:

Lift spring link (6) until rear axle shaft is horizontal. The spring link is spring-loaded
-
Installation: The rear axle shaft must be horizontal when tightening the nut

Remove suspension strut (6j) from spring link (6)

Remove spring link (6) from rear axle carrier
CAUTION: Installation: The rear axle shaft must be horizontal when tightening the nut
NOTE: Installation: Tighten bolts or nuts using angle tightening method
Inspecting

Inspect rubber mount (6b) of spring link (6) in rear axle carrier

If necessary after checking, remove/install spring link rubber mount

Install in the reverse order.
